Braught Memorial Theater
Braught Memorial Theater
Our 174-seat theater is open for both commercial and public use. Contact our information desk at (956) 968-4533 for more information.
History
The Library was established in 1948, as part of the Civic Center Complex. It was run by community volunteers and Pearl Doss provided a grant for the library's collection in memory of her late husband, Porter Doss. In the early 1980's, the citizens of Weslaco approved a bond issue of well over one million dollars for the construction of the present facility, which opened its doors to the public in January 1986.
About the Theatre
The Theatre is named in memorandum for Mayor Eugene Braught. Mayor Braught served as Mayor from 1991-2001 and was Band Director at Weslaco High School.
