| Children’s Dental Health Month | February is National Children's Dental Health Month by the American Dental Association in an effort to raise awareness for the importance of good dental hygiene, including the use of fluoride, cavity prevention and dental sealants. Teaching children good dental hygiene is one of the most beneficial things a parent can do. Learning from an early age the importance of brushing and flossing teeth, as well as twice-a-year checkups, is crucial to maintaining those pearly whites. Our display provides some resources to get you started. |

Presidents’ Day |
This display shows the accomplishments of Abraham Lincoln 16th President and George Washington 1st President of the United States. Both Lincoln’s and Washington’s birthdays are in February hence the observance of Presidents’ Day. Our display identifies several books and information on both of these historical figures. |
| National Cancer Prevention Month Each year over half a million Americans die of Cancer. During February take the time to find out what you can do to try to prevent getting cancer. In this display you will find several books describing the different types of cancer and related preventive measures. |

| FEBRUARY HEART MONTH: | |
| “Healthy Heart, Healthy Life” is February’s motto. This February display focuses on raising community awareness about the importance of maintaining a healthy heart. Our display provides heart facts and tips to prevent heart disease and cardiovascular problems. | |
| BLESS ME ULTIMA: “Bless Me Ultima” is part of the Big Read Library. The Big Read is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts, designed to restore reading to the center of American culture by promoting community book discussions of classic American and international literary works. The Weslaco Public Library will host discussions of “Bless Me Ultima” during March in coordination with several other libraries and schools throughout Hidalgo County. The excerpts from “Bless Me Ultima” featured in this display represent varied facets and discussion points for the book.
