Monthly Exhibits

December 2008

National Drunk and Drugged Driving Prevention Month
December is a time to raise public awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving.  During this month consider what you and your community can do to make injuries and deaths from impaired driving less of a threat.  Our display has several items of information that may help you save a life.

Safe Toys & Gifts Month

The holiday season is a time when children receive most of their toys, but not all gifts are safe. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, in 2005, more than 200,000 toy-related injuries were reported, and nearly 8,000 of these injuries were eye injuries. Therefore, the national group, Prevent Blindness, promotes December as "Safe Toys and Gifts Month."

Spiritual Literacy Month
Many believe that life is a sacred adventure. They believe that every day we encounter signs that point to the active presence of the spirit in the world around us.  Spiritual literacy is the ability to read the signs spiritual life written in the texts of our own experiences.  This display provides resources to explore various approaches to spiritual literacy.

Identity Theft Prevention and Awareness Month
Identity theft is when someone other than yourself, obtains your personal information and uses it for their own personal gain.  Identity theft is the number one crime according to the Federal Trade Commission.  This display provides information that may keep you from becoming a victim of identity theft.

National Write a Business Plan Month
If you are interested in starting a business, December is a good time to start.  Out display features several books that may guide you on how to write a business plan and how to begin your own business.
