Happiness Happens Month
Happiness Happens Month is observed in August to remind people that despite global and personal chaos, happiness still happens. There are two purposes of the month; recognize and express happiness and don’t rain on other people’s parades. This display features a variety of books reflecting on happiness and provides information on what you can do to promote happiness.
National Immunization Month
August has also been designated as a time to highlight the importance of keeping current with immunizations. Our display includes a couple of charts to help guide you on what you need. It also identifies some books that can help you understand on why some of the immunizations are needed.
National Inventors’ Month
Throughout the month of August we celebrate invention and creativity. During National Inventor's Month we celebrate the inventors who have enriched our world with their discoveries. From everyday conveniences to modern miracles, inventions change the way people live. By the time we celebrate National Inventor's Month next year, who knows how many more amazing inventions will be making life better for all of us?
Summer Olympics Past and Present
Every two years during the Summer Olympics athletes from diverse countries and continents congregate to compete for worldwide honor and recognition. The Olympics also foster international community and cooperation. On this display you will find several books on the Olympics from its roots in antiquity to the present.

Starting kindergarten can be a scary and exciting time for both children and parents. To help ease the transition Get Ready for Kindergarten Month is a month that is spent to promote skills that children will need to succeed in kindergarten. Our display will have several books and information to help you prepare for what’s ahead.

August is Children’s Eye Health and Safety Month. Our display features book sources, tips and websites to increase awareness about the importance of healthy vision among children. It provides guidance on various preventive measures that can help ensure children stay safe and maintain good eyesight.
