April 2009
Alcohol Awareness Month |
During April we recognize the serious problem of alcohol abuse. Although, alcohol is a legal drug, addiction is a common problem and brings with it many social and psychological difficulties. April 6, 2009 marks the annual observance of National Alcohol Screening Day (NASD). At locations across the United States, people can be screened—anonymously—to see if their drinking habits may be risky. Our display has several books and information that may help you understand and deal with alcoholism. |

National Autism Awareness Month |
National Autism Awareness Month was established in 1972 by the Autism Society of America (ASA). The observance provides an opportunity for the ASA, its State chapters, and others in the autism community to educate the public about this disorder. The high rate of autism among all races, ethnicities, and social groups points to a greater need for education, particularly with regard to the early diagnosis of this complex developmental disorder.
