Friends of the Weslaco Public Library

The Friends of the Weslaco Public Library shall be a non-policy making and non-profit association, the purpose of which shall be to promote the interest and welfare of Weslaco Public Library as a cultural and educational asset to the City of Weslaco, Texas.

The current officers are

President             Christine Warren
Vice-President      Walter Heid
Secretary             Ann Charlton
Treasurer             Barbara Heid

The Friends have provided a ScanPro 400 microfilm reader located on the second floor of the Library.  Patrons are encouraged to make use of this equipment to view past copies of the local Weslaco newspapers.  Ask at the reference desk for assistance.

The used bookstore at the library has been discontinued because of a lack of manpower to operate the store.  Any books that you donate at this time will be screened for addition to the Library’s collection.  If the volumes are not needed, they will be sent to city surplus to be added to the annual auction items.

Several years ago, the Friends began supplying a magazine called Book Page that tells about new titles available to readers.  This is now brought to you by The Storybook Garden,and you can pick up your free copy at the Library each month.  Thank you, Sarah, for continuing this project.
